• A “gamokoulouro” (wedding bread roll) is placed in the room of the newlyweds on the second day. “Gamokoulouro” is a uniquely Cretan, visually appealing and tremendously impressive tradition. “Gamokoulouro” is traditionally prepared one week prior to the wedding and is decorated with carved motifs and symbols representing fertility and prosperity such as seeds, birds, grapes and pine nuts. “Gamokoulouro” is usually offered as a gift to the best man, honoured guests and relatives of the couple.
